Expert: Russia may mull social nets registration by passport soon

MOSCOW, Feb 8 (PRIME) -- Russia may soon discuss registration of accounts with social networks by passport, because they are seriously underestimated from the point of view of dangers for users, Artyom Sychyov, first deputy head of the central bank’s information security department, said on Tuesday at forum Cyber Security Day.

“I’d like to mention the mad trust of the young generation and those gradually approaching the adult age in social networks,” Sychov said.

“It’s a very underestimated floor from the point of view of threats for the users. Theft of accounts, fake accounts, distribution of absolutely unclear and unconfirmed information, which results in financial consequences, is one of the problems that is mainly ignored now.”

“Anyway, identification, and identification of a person not only when accessing networks, but also when using the social networks may be an imminent subject.”

Sychov, who will quit the central bank on March 14, said that he did not speak on behalf of the central bank, but as an information security specialist.
